Matar Paneer (Green peas and cheese curry)



4 C                   milk

2 T                   lemon juices

¼ C                  Ghee


3 T                   oil

1 t                    cumin seeds

4 med             onions, ground

½ C                  hot water

1 t                    garlic powder

1 t                    ginger powder

4 t                    tomato puree

1 t                    turmeric powder

1 ½ t               cayenne pepper

3 t                   coriander powder

Tt                     Salt

1 C                   yogurt, beaten

1 C                   peas cooked

1 t                    garam masala powder (see attached recipe)

2 T                    Coriander leaves, chopped, for garnish


  1. Cut cheese in to 1inch cubes and fry in ghee to add color, set aside.
  2. In wok or skillet heat oil, add cumin seeds and cook briefly
  3. Add onion and fry till brown in color
  4. Add hot water, garlic and ginger and simmer for 5 minutes
  5. Add tomato, spices and salt, stir until incorporated
  6. Add yogurt and simmer for 10 mins
  7. Add the peas and garam masala, incorporate
  8. Just before serving add Paneer
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves
