Sabe Chutney (Apple Relish)



4 each                          Apples

½ cup                          Dried Apricots

½ cup                          Golden Raisins

4 clove                         Garlic, peeled and minced

½ cup                          White Wine Vinegar

¾ cup                          Water

1 ½ cup                       Sugar*

½ cup                          Brown Sugar*

2 teaspoon                   Salt

¼ teaspoon                  Cayenne Pepper

  • Jaggery should be used if available


  1. Combine all ingredients in a pot.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil.  Reduce to a  simmer and cook to a thick, jam-like consistency.
  3. Stir frequently to prevent sticking and scorching.
